Lancrigg to Seat Sandal - Photo Gallery

Saturday 1st November 2008 it was drizzling all the way to the Lake District but susprisingly dry by the time I got to Grasmere. I walked up the Easedale Road heading for the usual ascent of Helm Crag but noticed a footpath through the grounds of Lancrigg and made an unusual ascent to the summit plateau, as usual I was disappointed not to have the courage to reach the top of the summit outcrop. I walked the ridge to Gibson Knott and on to Calf Crag before walking across the soggy ground to the summit of Steel Fell and I found an unexpected descent to Dunmail Raise. I walked up the always interesting Raise in increasingly cold conditions as it clouded over in the strengthening breeze. I made the straightforward climb of Seat Sandal from and at the summit the breeze and mist came in to make it feel like November; after finding the broad ridge downwards it was a pleasant walk back to Grasmere.
