Pudding and Pipeline - Photo Gallery
Monday 27th October, I had postponed my walk from Saturday when it had been wet enough to force a fell race to be abandoned, but it was still a wet drive up to Coniston and there was a little bit of snow peeping from under the mist on the summits. I walked up to Miners Bridge then zig-zagged up through the quarries before walking up the Lad Stones ridge to Wetherlam; by the time I reached the cairn at the top of the ridge the mist had cleared. I carried on up the summit of Wetherlam then descended to climb the interesting ridge of Prison Band up to the summit of Swirl How. I made the easy walk to the summit of Great Carrs, the even easier walk across the broad green col called Fairfield and the not-too-difficult climb to the broad summit of Grey Friar. After enjoying the view I walked back down to Fairfield before taking the shortest route to Brim Fell before walking over its broad ridge before climb up to the summit of Coniston Old Man. I made the steep descent through the extensive, disused quarry workings before making my way across to the Pudding Stone and walking down the newly reconstructed path by the side of the old pipeline to Coppermines Valley and back to the village.
