Rosthwaite Fell - Photo Gallery

Saturday 22nd November 2008, it was the first properly cold day of the winter; I parked at Seatoller and walked back past the Mountain View cottages before crossing the fields to get to the footbridge across Combe Gill. The northern ridge of Rosthwaite Fell has always dominated the skyline from there and I decided to go and see what it was like. The rough, untidy fellside of High Buck Fell was a strenuous climb, and the intake wall almost defeated me, but I eventually reached the summit of Bessyboot. I walked across the broad ridge before climbing up the the impressive outcrop summit of Rosthwaite Cam, before exploring the rough ground above Combe Door. The rocky scramble to the summit of Glaramara was made more interesting by ice cascades and it was too cold for my camera's batteries at the summit. I walked along the ridge to the summit of Allen Crags, descended to Ruddy Gill and then followed Grains Gill back down to Seathwaite for the walk back to the car park.
