Rowling Sale Eel and Grasmoor - Photo Gallery

A clear sky overnight had become a blue one by one morning; it didn't feel as cold as the frost on the car suggested that it might be. I parked at Braithwaite and set off along the Newlands Valley road, after crossing the bridge across Stoneycroft Gill I headed straight up the steep, but interesting, ridge of Rowling End; it wasn't long before I stripped down to my teeshirt as I got warmer. I walked up to the summit of Causey Pike, the best viewpoint in the Lake District on such a sunny day. I followed the ridge over Scar Crags and up the broad path, filled with snow, to the summit of Sail; there was a slightly tricky crossing of The Scar before climbing to the summit of Eel Crag. I walked the easy route across to the summit of Grasmoor, and then a more interesting route to Coledale Hause; after walking up to the summit of Grisedale Pike, I made the long descent, via Kinn, back to Braithwaite.
