Wan for the lane - no photos today
Yesterday’s blizzards have subsided, the forecast is for milder weather. As I got to Ambleside it started to snow heavily and there was fresh snow on the road – I think I’ll stop here.
Up the hill past Stock Ghyll Force to the start of the path up to Wansfell Pike, there was snow on the path all of the way to the summit and it was snowing, and at the top the snow was generally ankle deep.
From the summit, cross the stile in the wall and follow the wall north east, no sign of a path initially with snow drifts up to my knees in places. But it was great, a super little ridge walk through the fresh snow, ending at a cairn near to Baystones.
Take a V-turn and follow a line of cairned outcrops until the start of the Nanny Lane track that takes you all of the way to Troutbeck.
Turn left at the end of the lane, through the village and just past the Post Office on the right is Robin Lane, another track that takes you eventually to Skelghyll woods and back down to the waterfront at Ambleside.
By the time I got back to Ambleside the weather was becoming milder and the roads were clear of snow.
